About us

The National Network for Mental Health is a leading organization in the social advocacy sector, dedicated to supporting mental health initiatives across Canada. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities through education, advocacy, and support services.

What you will do

  • Participate in board meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the organization's programs and initiatives.
  • Respond to emails connected to Board activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with other board members and staff to achieve organizational goals.

What we are looking for

  • Required: A genuine interest in supporting mental health advocacy.
  • Required: Clear, respectful communication and the ability to work well with others.
  • Optional: Any past involvement in board settings or leadership positions.
  • Optional: Familiarity with nonprofit work, governance practices, or fundraising approaches.
  • Professional or lived experience in areas like disability advocacy, mental health, community work, nonprofit involvement, networking, or strategic thinking is encouraged and welcomed.

Time Commitment

  • Attend 1 monthly board meeting each month for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Contribute between 2-5 hours each month depending on your availability.
  • Respond to emails within 2 days whenever possible, so we can stay connected and keep our work moving.
