About Rainbow Community Places

Rainbow Community Places (RCP) is a non-profit, community-based agency committed to
empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ people by building community in safe(r) spaces across the Greater
Toronto Area (GTA). We connect, support, and empower 2SLGBTQIA+ communities through
engaging programs and experiences, such as Toby’s Place for youth and Dorothy’s Place for
seniors.
Our vision is to build a community where every queer person feels safe(r), supported, and can
flourish. Our work is guided by our core values: Community, Nourishment, Safety, Inclusivity,
Integrity and Empowerment.

Role Summary

Are you passionate about supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community? RCP is seeking dedicated
individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a working Board, our Directors provide leadership
and ensure the organization fulfills its mission and governance obligations.
We are currently seeking a Fundraising Lead. This role is vital as we transition from a startup
phase to a firmly established organization and ideal for those looking to gain leadership
experience.

Key Responsibilities (All Directors)

long-term strategic plans.
Governance: Ensure the Board acts in accordance with RCP’s mission, vision, and legal
framework.
Collaboration: Attend monthly Board meetings and contribute to collective
decision-making.
Learn: Bring your unique skills, experiences and knowledge to share with others and be
committed to your own personal development to grow and effectively serve as a Director.

Fundraising Lead Responsibilities

The Fundraising Lead is responsible for identifying and securing sustainable revenue to
reduce reliance on single funding sources.

Strategy: Draft and execute an annual Fundraising Plan with specific milestones. This
will be done in collaboration with the Board and specifically the Treasurer to verify the
targeted incoming revenue meets RCP’s operational needs.
Grant Writing: Collaborate with others to identify and submit grant applications.
Donor Relations: Lead individual and corporate donor stewardship and outreach.
Event Oversight: Lead the planning and execution of all fundraising events.
Leadership: Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications Lead as part of
the Fundraising & Marketing Committee.

Qualifications and Requirements

Commitment: A strong commitment to the purpose, mission, vision, and values of RCP.
Experience: Past experience in fundraising.
Lived Experience: An understanding of the needs of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community; RCP
prioritizes building a Board that reflects the full diversity of our communities.
Communication: Excellent communication skills to relay information effectively to the
Board and external partners.

Work Conditions

● Location: Meetings are held virtually.
● Time Commitment: Average of 10 hours per month. May occasionally vary depending
on fundraising activities.
● Position Type: Volunteer
