Rainbow Community Places (RCP) is a non-profit, community-based agency committed to
empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ people by building community in safe(r) spaces across the Greater
Toronto Area (GTA). We connect, support, and empower 2SLGBTQIA+ communities through
engaging programs and experiences, such as Toby’s Place for youth and Dorothy’s Place for
seniors.

Role Summary
Are you passionate about supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community? RCP is seeking dedicated
individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a working Board, our Directors provide leadership
and ensure the organization fulfills its mission and governance obligations.
We are currently seeking a Networking Lead. This role is vital as we transition from a startup
phase to a firmly established organization, and ideal for those looking to gain leadership
experience.
Key Responsibilities (All Directors)
● Strategic Oversight: Participate in developing and monitoring RCP operations and
long-term strategic plans.
● Governance: Ensure the Board acts in accordance with RCP’s mission, vision, and legal
framework.
● Collaboration: Attend monthly Board meetings and contribute to collective
decision-making.
● Learn: Bring your unique skills, experiences and knowledge to share with others and be
committed to your own personal development to grow and effectively serve as a Director.
Networking Lead Responsibilities
The Networking Lead is responsible for identifying opportunities to develop collaborative
relationships to strengthen RCP’s programs and secure sustainable revenue to reduce
reliance on single funding sources.
● Outreach Strategy: Develop and execute an annual networking plan to connect with
2SLGBTQIA+ organizations and community partners.
● Community Engagement: Oversee outreach activities to generate awareness and
interest from potential participants, donors and volunteers.
● Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Lead and Fundraising
Lead to ensure consistent messaging and to maximize relationship-building
opportunities.
● Resource Development: Coordinate with the Marketing team and Program staff to
develop outreach materials (flyers, postcards, banners) and resources for tabling
activities.
● Staff Support: Provide guidance to program staff and the Programs Lead to support
their specific networking activities and outreach needs.
● Committee Participation: Actively participate as a member of the Fundraising &
Marketing Committee.
Qualifications and Requirements
● Commitment: A strong commitment to the purpose, mission, vision, and values of RCP.
● Experience: Past experience in community outreach, public relations, or professional
networking.
● Lived Experience: An understanding of the needs of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community; RCP
prioritizes building a Board that reflects the full diversity of our communities.
● Communication: Excellent communication skills to relay information effectively to the
Board and external partners.
Work Conditions
● Location: Meetings are held virtually.
● Time Commitment: Average of 10 hours per month. May occasionally vary depending
on the seasonal nature of outreach activities.
● Position Type: Volunteer
