The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society is currently seeking five 5-7 committed and experienced individuals to join its volunteer Board of Directors.

About Us

The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society is a national organization dedicated to improving the well-being of Canadians affected by iron overload through awareness, education, and early detection. Our vision is to eliminate the preventable suffering and premature death caused by hemochromatosis.

The Opportunity

Board Members will help fill current board vacancies and will stand for election at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in October. Successful candidates will serve a two- year term, renewable for up to three terms.

This is a volunteer position requiring approximately 6–8 hours per month, including participation in virtual board meetings held every 1–2 months or as needed, committee work, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Directors are expected to:

  • Support the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities
  • Contribute to effective governance and decision-making
  • Review and understand financial statements
  • Fulfill fiduciary responsibilities as a board member
  • Promote awareness of hereditary hemochromatosis within their networks and
    communities
  • Attend and actively participate in board meetings and committees
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives
  • Support Chapters across the country

Ideal Candidates

We are seeking individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Marketing and communications
  • Financial management
  • Non-profit governance
  • Organizational operations
  • A passion for improving health outcomes and supporting Canadian communities is
    essential.
