Garderie Bernadette Child Care Centre (GBCCC) is a licensed non-profit childcare facility that offers care (in both English and French) to children 6 weeks to 5 years old. It has been a part of the Sandy Hill and University of Ottawa community since 1988.

We are looking for someone to lead our team in a positive, equitable and collaborative manner. Our ideal leader will empower and inspire all team members to work together to realize the GBCCC mission and values.

In this position, you will be responsible for the administration and management of the GBCCC and leading the infant, toddler and pre-school educational programs. You will also be the point of contact for the Board of Directors.

What we are looking for in a leader of our team:

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education Degree or Diploma

  • Early Childhood Education Administration Certificate or equivalent degree is an asset

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator Certification and good standing membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR- level C

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in childcare as an ECE

  • Minimum of 2 years of management or supervisory experience, ideally managing staff in a unionized workplace

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector check – current in last 6 months

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is highly preferred.

Previous Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in strategic planning and program development, including (but not limited to) the development of policies, the administration of various programs and services, and familiarity with quality assurance evaluation tools and techniques;

  • Experience working in administration in a non-profit environment, including: grant writing, financial and human resource administration, and external agencies requirements compliance;

  • Demonstrated ability to network with community agencies and partners;

  • Experience developing strong administrative and organizational skills.

Leadership Knowledge & Expertise

  • Sound knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, and Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC);

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills;

  • Commitment to social inclusion and building relationships and community;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills (in both English and French) for use with various stakeholders (staff, parents, etc.);

  • Knowledge of best practices in the Early Learning development field in accordance with the How Does Learning Happen? document;

  • Willingness to be flexible in daily schedules to ensure contact time with parents and families.

  • Manage reporting and funding requirements for the CWELCC program.
