The JUNO BEACH CENTRE ASSOCIATION (JBCA) is seeking a bilingual (English/French) Digital Marketing Specialist to help expand its digital footprint and storytelling capacity in Canada. The ideal candidate should have a knack for creative storytelling, be experienced in developing and marketing multimedia content across a range of digital media channels, and have strong writing skills in both English and French.

The Juno Beach Centre Association is the registered charity that owns the Juno Beach Centre (JBC), Canada’s privately-owned Second World War museum and education centre. The Juno Beach Centre is located on the beaches of the Normandy Landings in France, where Allied Forces began the liberation of Europe from Nazi rule on June 6th, 1944.

This role is a strategic centrepiece in these efforts. It will support immediate fundraising and awareness campaigns while helping shape our long-term digital education and communications infrastructure.

THE POSITION
Reporting to the Community & Fund Development Manager, the Digital Marketing Specialist is primarily responsible for raising awareness about the Juno Beach Centre in Canada and building and maintaining the framework, methods, and assets to deliver the staff’s tailored educational content across Canada. Along with the Fund Development Manager, the Digital Marketing Specialist ensures consistent, effective, and measurable delivery of the JBCA’s Communications Plan and message. The role also supports revenue generation through advertising, email marketing, and social media calls to action aimed at grassroots supporters.
The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for synthesizing complex historical information into engaging, thought-provoking, and accessible content that is primarily delivered digitally with a Canadian focus.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIGITAL MARKETING SPECIALIST
MARKETING & DIGITAL ADVERTISING
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Fund Development Manager to develop and execute comprehensive communication plans
- Support the Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator and Community & Fund Development Manager in the development and management of the JBCA’s email marketing programs (including our monthly newsletter).
- Design of digital ad creative for ad placements across LinkedIn, Facebook & Instagram aimed at grassroots donors
- Daily management & optimization of core advertising programs across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & TikTok
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement tour operator and tourism fields marketing strategies across English-Canada and Quebec
SOCIAL MEDIA & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Developing, managing and coordinating the content and day-to-day publication strategy for the JBCA’s “Friends of Juno Beach” Social Channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook & TikTok). This could include engaging volunteers across the organization in the strategic development of UGC for TikTok, Instagram Stories and Facebook Reels.
- Collaborate with the Communications Manager in France in sharing content between the JBCA channels and the “Juno Beach Centre” Social Channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, & TikTok), ensuring alignment, and generally ensuring that they are cooperating in the same ecosystem.
- Lead digital performance reporting for the JBCA, providing monthly insights on website traffic, email metrics, and social media engagement.
- Work with staff to align and optimize strategies to meet the JBCA’s fundraising and educational goals in Canada.
WEBSITE & CONTENT CURATION
- Support the Education Director in the development (research, writing, content creation) of “digital & social micro-exhibitions”, contained stories or series about Canada’s role in the Second World War that would be published and promoted across digital channels (website, social, etc.).
- Make general website updates and support the rest of the team (France and Canada) with same; monitor website back end, including web hosting and domain registration
OTHER
- Willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Liaise with graphic designers, media agencies, software providers, and other vendors in support of our community building, advertising, and marketing efforts
- Undertake any secondary tasking and responsibilities deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the agency and its programs and services
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of experience working with digital tools and managing/developing content for cross-platform digital platforms & channels, including social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn etc.), email marketing (Mailchimp), and websites (CMS, WordPress, Wix, Webflow, etc.)
- Experience using not-for-profit CRM systems commonly used in Canada (e.g. Keela, Raiser’s Edge, Nationbuilder, etc.)
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Good familiarity of digital KPIs and reporting platforms, and an ability to translate performance metrics into strategic insights to optimize programs and support internal stakeholders through strategic decision-making.
- Basic design or video editing skills (Canva or in-platform editing) would be considered a major asset, as would familiarity with managing & optimizing digital advertising programs (Return on Ad Spend or RoAS) across a range of channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
- Willingness to learn and leverage AI tools

- Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills in both English and French. As an organization that serves both an English & French population in Canada, and this being a role that will require working closely with on-the-ground staff in France, fluent bilingualism is essential.

SAMPLE DUTIES IN A MONTH
- Design an automated email sequence to re-engage lapsed donors and invite them to join a new membership program
- Adapt a physical exhibition into a digitally curated experience for visitors to our website
- Create and execute a scheduled social media campaign for Remembrance Day or a significant Second World War anniversary
- Promote our Flag Sponsorship Program through ad campaigns centred around Canada Day or Flag Day
- Draft and manage the publication of regular content across the JBCA social channels
